The short version
Pizza Nerd has no accounts, no logins, and no analytics SDKs. Your saved recipes, bake log, photos, and preferences live on your device — never on our servers.
Three narrow exceptions are described below: a public Apple catalog call to check for app updates, a content fetch for topping suggestions, and (when enabled) Apple/Google's in-app purchase infrastructure via RevenueCat.
Information We Collect
We do not collect personal information.
Pizza Nerd:
• Does not require account creation or login
• Does not collect names, emails, or phone numbers
• Does not track your location
• Does not use advertising identifiers (IDFA / AAID)
• Does not run any analytics, advertising, or A/B-testing SDKs
• Does not include crash-reporting SDKs (Sentry, Bugsnag, Crashlytics)
Local Data Storage
The recipes you save, your bake log entries, photos, ingredient prices, region, language, theme, units, and in-app interaction events (used inside the app to improve your experience) are stored locally on your device only. This data:
• Never leaves your device through Pizza Nerd
• Is not transmitted to any Pizza Nerd server
• Is not accessible to us or any third parties
• Is deleted when you clear the app's data or uninstall the app
Outbound Network Calls
Pizza Nerd makes a small, deliberately narrow set of outbound network calls:
• App-version check. On iOS, the app calls Apple's public iTunes Search API (itunes.apple.com) with only the bundle identifier to see if a newer version exists. The response is cached for 24 hours. No personal data is sent.
• Topping suggestions. When you open a topping detail page, the app fetches that topping's content from Pizza Nerd's own backend. The request contains only the topping id you tapped — no account info, no device id.
• In-app purchases (Pizza Nerd Pro). When in-app purchases are enabled on a build, purchase processing is handled by Apple/Google and the receipt is validated through RevenueCat. RevenueCat receives an anonymous user identifier (a randomly generated UUID), the purchase receipt, and standard SDK metadata such as app version, platform, and country. No name, email, or payment-card data ever reaches us — Apple/Google process the transaction directly with you.
Recipe Sharing
When you tap Share on a saved recipe, Pizza Nerd builds a link that contains the recipe's ingredient inputs encoded inside the URL itself. The link is created on your device and handed to whichever channel you choose (iMessage, Facebook, email, etc.). Pizza Nerd's servers are not part of the share — the recipe is decoded entirely in the receiving Pizza Nerd app or web page.
Anyone you send the link to will be able to see the recipe inputs encoded in it. Only share recipes with people you intend to share them with.
Third-Party Services
The third parties Pizza Nerd interacts with are limited to:
• Apple iTunes Search API — version check (no personal data)
• Apple App Store / Google Play — in-app purchase processing
• RevenueCat — purchase receipt validation when in-app purchases are enabled
• External links you tap (Facebook page, support email, YouTube tutorials, ko-fi tip jar on the web) — once you tap, those services' own privacy policies apply
Children's Privacy
Pizza Nerd does not knowingly collect any information from children under 13. The app is suitable for all ages because it does not collect any personal information at all.
Changes to This Policy
We update this Privacy Policy whenever the app's data behavior changes. The "Last Updated" date at the top reflects the most recent material change. Continued use of the app after a change indicates your acceptance of the updated policy.
